Regional Customs Transit Guarantee (RCTG) Workshop.
The National Surety and COMESA Secretariat organized a sensitization workshop on 3rd June 2009 at The Stanley Hotel Nairobi. Ten out of twenty three bonds underwriters attended the workshop. The workshop was for three days. The first day was for customs services staff and insurers, the second day was for banks and the final day was for clearing and forwarding agents.
The workshop covered the following areas:
Overview of the Regional Customs Transit Guarantee Scheme.

Operations of RCTG.

RCTG Instruments.

Initiatives and New Developments.

Dissemination of the findings of the Pilot on RCTG.
The regional transit will be launched in September this year.
Signing of Customs Security Bond Specimen Form
The Secretariat organized with customs security official to witness signatures of directors of member companies who sign bonds at AKI on 10TH June 2009. Directors of sixteen member companies attended the session and signed the specimen form.
