AKI BOARD

The Board structure

The Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) was established in 1987 as a consultative and advisory body for the insurance industry.

The Business of the Association is managed by the Board which is responsible for the general conduct of insurance business as well as the affairs of the Association. The Board is headed by the AKI Chairman assisted by two deputy chairmen .The Board has ten members and the past chairman as the ex-officio member. The Current Chairman is Mr. Nelson Kuria.

The Board is assisted by four Committees namely:-
  • Ethics and Self Regulations Committee ,
  • Public Relations and External liaison Committee ,
  • Statutory and Legal Affairs Committee and
  • Secretariat Affairs and Investment Committee.

The Secretariat

The Board is assisted to run the affairs of the Association on a day to day basis by a fully fledged Secretariat headed by the Executive Director, Mr.Tom Gichuhi. The main objective of the Secretariat is to promote and co-ordinate the activities of the Association by providing secretarial, administrative and technical support to the Board, Committees of the Board, the Councils as well as all other organs of the Association.
